Mouse Sensitivity Quick Switch

So lately I've been trying to work on my long distance shots (like from the pit to long A on D2, or from the front wall on Assault looking into the building from the CT side) with rifles, like the M4 or the AK, but after realizing the the 2000dpi setting is still way too twitchy, I switched back to my old setting of 950dpi.

At 950dpi, I find it much easier to aim at opponents at long range, but also at close range too.  As a matter of fact, I found myself hitting my targets while sniping more than before.

Some of the other PHXX clanmates of mine commented on my "snap" style aiming while AWPing looked like an aimbot before, but that is if I'm hitting my targets and killing them.  More often than before, I've found myself having aimed at somebody, and all I had to do would be to just click and kill them, but just before the click I would want to make a minor adjustment and end up twitching my hand a little.  That little twitch, at single zoom on the AWP, plus the 2000dpi, will move the crosshair clear off of the other person.  Usually by that time, the other person has had time to react and usually kill me with a headshot.

With the lowered dpi setting, I can actually snap just on target instead of over snapping, and when I make those silly minor adjustments, it's not a big enough movement on the screen to take me completely off of my target, resulting in a completely missed shot.

The only time that I feel the 2000dpi setting is useful for me, is when I need to turn around rapidly to fire back at someone that's shooting me from behind, or when I am in a close quarter combat stage where I need to either bust out my knife or make quick aiming adjustments for Deagling a guy 2 feet in front of me that's jumping around like a frog.

So, I am going to have to develop a new skill, and hopefully get good at it soon.  I shall call it the "mouse sensitivity quick switch".  Much like the quick switch technique used for sniping rifles, but this "version", if you will, has to do with the mouse sensitivity changing buttons on my Logitech G5 mouse.  I'm going to try to change the mouse sensitivity when I need to, despite possible panic moments.  In those situations, however, I'm going to have to try to remain calm and change the sensitivity so that I can save my butt a second or so later when I need to move the mouse around quickly.

Elegant Insults

Last night, I encountered this guy on the 174.5 Assault server that had something to say about everything I said with ma_say, which I only used because of people glitching, UV camping as T, bypassing the word filter, or had inappropriate names.

For those of you whom have played with me know that, I don't really use ma_say unless it's needed.  So I say my piece, and I'm done.

But this guy wasn't.

So he continues to question everything I say, including why I am telling people to watch what they type and watch what they say on the mic.

Then he did it.

He typed "this is rediculous".  With an "e".

1 of my pet peeves is that, people spell that word with an "e".  That is the incorrect way to spell it.

So, in the middle of an argument, or attempted argument with an admin, it is probably not a good idea to sound unintelligent by misspelling a simple word such as "ridiculous".  So I correct him with:

"Ridiculous.  It is spelled with an "i", not an "e".

He proceeded to tell me not to correct him, and that I should shut up.

Welp, I didn't have to mute him or anything, as he never said another word to me after that.

Basically, with me, don't start something you can't finish.  And if you start something with me, you had better bring everything you got, or else I will find a way to destroy your arguments and make you look dumb.

Be nice to me and I won't even have to do any of that :)

Whooooooops!

I always thought that it was our very own cpnichol who was in a metal band, and I think I've even made a few comments about death metal and stuff to him.

Well it turns out it was member castotroy that is the lead vocalist for a metal...  well, hardcore'ish...  I guess the "term" for it is "metalcore"...  anyway, he is the lead vocalist for a metalcore band.  Not cpnichol.

However, both of their names are Phil, and from the UK.  So... me being a dumb American, assumed, that since it's "Phil from the UK", he must be the metal band guy.

Nope.

That's my "whooooooops" part.

I'm such an idiot sometimes...

Found a few new bands! Yay!!

So after been hooked on Gardenian for the last couple of weeks, and having listened to nothing but their "Sindustries" album for like, 2 weeks straight, I needed something else to listen to.

Well, what better place than to start from looking for music from the members of the band?

If there's 1 thing I learned about most of the European metal band members, it would be that they all like to be involved in more than just 1 band. 1 guy can be in as little as 1 main band and his/her own side project band, to be full time members of like 4 or 5 bands, all making quality music.

So, seeing as Niclas Engelin was the guitarist for Gardenian, I started to dig around to see what's up with Gardenian and Niclas.

Well, I guess Gardenian officially broke up in 2004, but Niclas had been involved with a few other bands, 1 of which was formed before Gardenian. Here are some of them:

Passenger - check them out at their Myspace page.
Engle - check them out at their Myspace page.
Within Y - check them out at their Myspace page.

Passenger is fronted by Anders Friden, the same guy that fronts In Flames. Within Y featured Thim Blom, the drummer for Gardenian back when they were still around, but had to quit the band as his wrists were bothering him too much (he had pains on his wrists) to perform at tip top shape. Engel features Niclas as the guitarist, along with some other big names in the Swedish Melodic Death Metal scene as well, but I will leave them out for now as this blog isn't about them.

Anyway, for you metal heads out there, check these guys out and see if you guys like them. I'm glad I've found them as I can now be distracted away from listening to Gardenian 24/7 lol

HS's and Strafing

I have been struggling to get HS's from my M4, or any kind of strafing shots with the M4, but recently realized that, if I have my cursor high, like, to where the center point is just above someone's forehead, the shot usually counts as a HS, and strafing M4 shots aren't as hard as I make them out to be.

M4s can be shot while running, unlike the AK, so as long as the recoil is controlled, it is not hard to put the bullets on target.  So with the M4, you should strafe side to side, stop in intervals to pop off a couple of single shots, or do a 3 round burst.  If you strafe in a quick pace, start pulling the mouse down to aim at your enemy's feet as you shoot.  With the recoil it should bounce up and hit chest level.

For those of you that are kind of new or wonder how some of us do it, just give it a try.
