My Blog

Argh....

So I have been having this "lag" from my input devices for the last several months, and I hadn't been able to accurately diagnose it.

It would just happen randomly, and it would usually happen when I am trying to survive a fire fight, or when I'm just running around.

The symptoms of my problem go like this:

Say for example I am strafing left and right by the middle doors on Dust2 trying to pick off the T Spawn sniper.  I will hit "A" and "D" obviously, but sometimes, I'll let go of either of those buttons to stop, and my guy keeps strafing in that direction for another 1 to 2 seconds, depending.  When that happens, I will move my mouse to try and regain the input device controls, and nothing happens.  My guy just keeps strafing in that direction.  If I try to click my mouse to fire my weapon, and I click on it like 3 or 4 times for single shots, my computer gives me the "oh no you didn't just press your buttons while I'm froze/hung up" beeps.

Turns out, I found out, over the course of the last few months, which required the use of my laptop for work, and the fact that I've started to rip my CDs on to the laptop so I can xfer them to my iPod, I had slowly filled up my HD to the point where I only had 6% of free disk space left!!!!

Last night, my computer was acting up especially bad.  Xtreme and Bullet can both testify for me.  I was like 8-29 on FY.  I don't even get that bad when I am playing very badly with a healty, working computer.  Playing decently with a bad computer resulted in that.  I got so distracted by my computer's problems, plus my frustration on top of it, resulted in me not being able to take aim and hit anything.  I was literally just a moving target for people to practice shooting last night.

Today, I have deleted a bunch of files, which netted me a 20% increase in HD space, and I have also defraged my HD (although using the defrager that came with WinXP.  That thing sucks.  I need to somehow get my O&O one to work again, or get a copy of Perfect Disk like my friend was telling me to), so hopefully, I won't get that problem anymore.

We shall see...

Hmm...

So it seems that the advice from people of "crouch while double zoomed and Scouting" really works.  Got a bunch of accurate HS's tonight from that.

Got a few strafing Scout HS's, but I think they were more luck than anything.

Here's what I don't get:

How is it that when I'm double zoomed and standing still, I'd have to crouch to get an accurate shot?

I can also strafe around my cover, and while still moving (on my screen) pop off single or double zoomed shots around someone's head and actually get a HS.

How does that work?

I am so confused....

I need aiming lessons

So it seems lately that all my shots are body shots and not headshots.  Seem to be that all my shots are hitting just below the head, at the neck/high chest area, which sucks.

And it's proof that it sucks because I'd come around a corner and prefire, only to do like 2 hits 54 damage or something, while I get killed cause the other guy/girl did the same thing to me, but got me in the head.

Definitely need to figure out what I can do to improve that...

Yay!

So, I finally figured I might as well try this blog thing out, as I spend a whole lot of time on the net and forums.

I will try to blog about my experiences in CS:S, as that is just about the only game I do play at the moment, as life does not allow more time for me to game.

Anyway, for the last couple of days I've been messing with my mouse settings, changing its dpi from 800 to 1500, while leaving everything else the same.  It works great in situations where I'll need to turn around quickly, such as GunGames or well, any maps really.  Problem is, I'm so used to the 800dpi that my aim has been way off.

So now, I need to practice my technique of trying to switch the mouse dpi setting between long range and close range.

I <3 my Logitech G5 mouse.
